Terraria 1.4.2: What's New and How to Play for Free
biomes were introduced in terraria. these are environments where your item/monster spawning is determined. as you will find on this list of terraria 1.4 seeds, they are not even remotely hard to find. the trick is knowing which biome you want. for example, do you want a nether biome? or a swamp biome? or a jungle biome? or an above-surface granite biome? each biome has different variables, such as day/night cycles, temperature, and overall item/monster density and structure, as well as variant monsters and biomes.

the main underground layer of the underground desert is fairly easy to traverse, with a thin layer of hardened sand that makes the terrain somewhat soft in most areas. these areas tend to also be large, and will include a variety of underground rooms and corridors. this layer contains the kitchen, obsidian and steel smelter, and crafting area. if an adventurer enters one of these areas, they will automatically start in the obsidian smelter, which will automatically transport them to the cave where they started. on this level, the most dangerous enemy is a hovering antlion hunter, which attacks by flitting around and suddenly hovering directly above your head. other dangerous enemies include the flying antlion, flying antlion swarm, and rolling cactus.
