You can find the serial number for your Type Cover near the center or to one side of its spine (the area that attaches to your Surface). The serial number is a string of numbers that looks something like this:XXXXXXXXXXXX

The Microsoft Accessory Center app shows the serial number for the Microsoft Modern audio and webcam accessories. It also shows the serial number for other Microsoft accessories. Open the app, select the accessory, and then select Device details.

The serial number of your Surface is printed directly beneath the word Surface under the kickstand on the back. Once you have the serial number, enter it here: -US/CheckWarranty/CheckWarranty and choose Submit. It will display the model number for you.An alternative is to look it up on the device itself.

A great many users are unclear about how to find the Surface serial number. If you are also trying to figure it out, this post of MiniTool is worth reading. It provides 4 simple ways for the Surface serial number lookup.

Serial Number, also short for Serial No, SN, S/N, or SNID, is a unique number that can be used for identifying a product. In addition, it can help get additional information about the product for replacements or compatible parts. Usually, a serial number contains numbers and letters depending on manufacturers, products, and models.

Another simple way for the Microsoft Surface serial number lookup is to locate your device. Usually, you can find the serial number at the bottom or back of the device. The location varies depending on your Surface model. Here we list them as follows:

While it's not difficult to find out what model Surface you have, the process does have a few steps involved. Some models have a 4-digit number located on the back next to the serial number which can be inputted into Google for an instant result. However, some models do not have this 4-digit number so we'll need to take an alternative approach-

2) - Secondly you'll need to decode your serial number to see exactly which model you have, head over to the Microsoft support page linked below where you'll be able to add in your serial number and it will provide you with the Surface model-

Has anyone found a way to lookup warranty status on Surface devices in bulk? The only thing I can find is https:/ Opens a new window/mybusinessservice.surface.com Opens a new window and it is painful at scale. Thanks for any pointers.

Customers can use the Hardware Support Portal to open service orders against their Surface devices. Simply input a serial number or upload a CSV file into the portal, check the coverage status of the device, select the relevant issue type associated with the device, choose the proper service type (exchange or repair), then submit the order. After an order is created, the customer can track open orders or review past repair orders for their devices. We recommend running the Surface Diagnostic for Toolkit for Business before submitting the service order. The users may identify and resolve some of the issues themselves.

In Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 we added new serial number capabilities. The intention was to help companies who are struggling to manage serialized products in inventory, when they really just want to capture serial numbers for service and warranty purposes when items are sold. For many companies this is the only reason to track serial numbers, but because serial numbers are stored as an inventory dimension, companies were forced to manage them at the individual product level in warehousing and inventory processes. This required an extra task of registering serial numbers, and added performance overhead to the system. The new capabilities added in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 allow a serial number to be tracked, but defers the actual registration until the product is sold.

Note that when this is option selected, the Capture serial option defaults to None and cannot be modified. This might seem a little confusing, but it is the correct behavior. The Capture serial box is only applicable for advanced warehousing scenarios. We also set the Serial number control as checked, because this is required for the new serial number functionality.

Because this functionality is enabled by creating a new tracking dimension group, products that were already serial number tracked will continue to work as they did previously, assuming that the tracking dimension group remains the same. You can enable some products with the new serial number tracking feature and some with the existing functionality by simply using different tracking dimension groups.

After an item is configured to use the new serial number configuration, you can have on-hand quantities of products without having to specify individual serial numbers. In the On hand form below, you can see a large quantity of Item T0006 in warehouse 11. Item T0006 is a serial number controlled item, but I do not have to record each individual serial number located in Warehouse 11.

Often we find that our customers only need to track serial numbers when a product is sold. A consumer may have warranty issues or just want to return the product; in both cases it is important to understand exactly what product they are trying to return.

The enhanced serial number functionality allows a serial number to be registered for products when they are picked or packed to fulfill a sales order, or when the sales order is invoiced. The item must be configured as described above. After a sales order is created, in the Packing slip form you can register serial numbers by clicking the Lines tab and clicking the Update line -> Register serial numbers.

After these steps have been completed and the sales order is sent to the customer, you can view the shipped serial numbers on the printed packing slip. You can also view the serial numbers by clicking Update line -> Register serial numbers from the forms for posting packing slips and invoices.

For example, suppose a customer reports a defective item but does not have their invoice. They have only the serial number on the product. In this case, you can use the tracing functionality in Microsoft Dynamics AX to retrieve the order history for the product. The item tracing functionality works with the new serial number features described above.

Returning a product from a customer is done in much the same way as before. When a return order is created and the new serial number configuration is enabled, you will need to register the serial numbers for the items that are being returned when you generate the packing slip.

The Inventory team is constantly working to improve the experience for our customers. With the release of Microsoft Dynamics 2012 R3, we made an important step in improving serial number tracking and registration. We look forward to your feedback about this feature, and suggestions for how we can make Dynamics AX even better.

On Windows 10, the ability to check the computer serial number can come in handy in many scenarios. For instance, when you need to create an inventory of the devices connected to your home network or organization, or need to contact technical support to troubleshoot a problem, order a replacement part, or check the warranty information.

So, you certainly can build a CSV file with the needed tuple information once you know (or figure out) the right manufacturer and model details. If that sounds like too much trouble, then fall back to the serial number and Windows product ID. If the OEM can provide you with the hardware hash, that works too, but avoid capturing the hash yourself.

For those that have older laptops with stickers or serial numbers that have worn off, you can always check for the model number within the control panel if you have a Windows operating system. This is a reliable way to check for your serial number regardless if you have other means of identifying the exact model number. The process is very easy and quick.

They will request the information on your laptop model when they are initiating their Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA). Therefore, you need to have the exact model number in order to properly identify what laptop you have. They might even need to know what your serial number is in order to figure out whether or not your laptop is currently under warranty.

Have it Back incorporates nearly all freely available serial numbers. Utilizing this database, you can verify before or after purchasing an item if said object has been marked as missing or stolen. Every day, new entries are transmitted automatically as well as manually.

Sometimes it can be useful to identify computer hardware for inventory purposes using its serial number, which is often written on a small sticker affixed to the underside of the device. The serial number is also found in the BIOS, and can be retrieved using Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI).

The get-ciminstance PowerShell command was introduced in PowerShell 3.0. It allows administrators to run WMI queries on local or remote computers. To retrieve the BIOS serial number of the local computer, we need to access the Win32_BIOS WMI class.

Despite the name, a serial number often contains letters and numbers. How many characters make up a serial number differs greatly, depending on the manufacturer, product, and model. Most serial numbers have at least six or seven characters, and some serial numbers have twenty or more. 350c69d7ab
